COMPASS once again facilitated the training on Shiphandling and Maneuvering for the Philippine Navy

Competent Maritime Professionals and Sea Staff Training Center Inc. (COMPASS) once again facilitated the training on Shiphandling and Maneuvering for the officers of the Philippine Fleet of our very own Philippine Navy. The scope of training is specifically designed for the requirement of Philippine Navy in line with the Executive Officers Course of participants. The training conducted last 16-17 November 2012 with the aim of giving quality training.

The course provides training for junior and senior naval officers including specific duties and responsibilities related to Bridge Team and Resource Management during shiphandling and maneuvering. It is essentially encompasses most of the important principles and techniques on how to safely and efficiently handle the vessel. This consist mainly of practical and a series of exercises performed on a Full Mission Bridge Simulator.

These training were conducted by Capt. Ricardo S. Miranda, Capt. Giovanni Saguid, Capt. Ernelson Santos and Capt. Rowell Cervan who all have an appropriate training in instructional techniques and training methods and have the practical experience necessary to operate a shiphandling simulator. With this, the trainees gained a comprehensive understanding and improved skills and ability in shiphandling and maneuvering.
