COMPASS Training Center Inc. recently received its accreditation from the Philippine Maritime Training Center (MTC) for its MANAGEMENT LEVEL COURSE FOR MARINE DECK OFFICERS (MLC-DECK OFFICERS). The new course is an addition to the growing list of industry accredited training courses being offered by COMPASS Training Center Inc.
In considering the peculiarity of the Philippine system of maritime education and training, which requires a baccalaureate degree for certification to the operational level responsibility, and the cognate needs of international shipping, the Maritime Training Council (MTC) had the MLC developed to reflect not only the promotion of sea safety and environmental protection but also to serve the needs of shipping for global economic development.
The Management Level Course (MLC) for marine deck officers is compliant to the requirements of Regulation II/2 of the STCW Convention which among others, requires that every candidate for certification to the management level responsibility shall have completed the corresponding approved education and training. It has three different functional courses namely;
Function 1 – Navigation at the Management Level
Function 2 – Cargo Handling & Stowage at the Management Level
Function 3 – Controlling the Operation Ship and Care for Persons on Board at the Management Level
