Philippine Coast Guard recognizes the advocacy of COMPASS Training Center

Competent Maritime Professionals and Sea Staff Training Center Inc (COMPASS) was awarded by the Philippine Coast Guard a certificate of recognition for their invaluable support and assistance extended to the Coast Guard for accommodating their personnel in operational control unit to the courses offered by its Maritime Training Center. The award was accepted by Mr. Dakila P. Villanueva, COMPASS – President and CEO in behalf of the training center last February 28, 2011 at Coast Guard District NCR – Central Luzon, Coast Guard Base Farola, Binondo Manila.

Consistent to its mission of proving quality training programs to the maritime industry, COMPASS provided free training to more than 30 officers of Coast Guard for the last quarter of 2010. Certificate of completion was also given to trainees at the end of every training program they have completed. The courses that were taken by our PCG Officers are:

  • Consolidated Marpol 1-6
  • Medical Emergency First Aid (MEFA)
  • General Tanker Familiarization (GTF)
  • Shore Based Fire Fighting (SBFF)
  • Ship Security Officer (SSO)
  • Electronic Chart Display & Information System (ECDIS).

The said courses are some of those which COMPASS offers and caters to every seafarer who would need to undergo training as a part of their requirement upon boarding.

Aside from their advocacy, COMPASS felt the need to give quality training programs to our government unit for our country’s welfare as well as to develop the technical competencies of our coasts guards.
