Shiphandling Pilot Class

Competent Maritime Professionals and Sea Staff Training Center Inc. (COMPASS) opens the year 2011 with new industry-specific training courses for our seafarers. In line with this, COMPASS launched the first SHIPHANDLING & MANEUVERING class on January 31 – February 4, 2011 with the aim of giving an experience of quality training. This 5-day training course was offered for free for the first 5 participants from our top clients who confirmed attendance. Meals and snacks were also provided for them during the training sessions.

The pilot class of the Shiphandling and Manuevering Course was participated by C/M Ambrosio Bacar (OSG Shipmanagement), 2nd/M Franisco Nebalasco (NAESS Shipping), C/M Carlo Murukami (Scanmar Maritime), C/M Egbert Luz TSM Shipping) and Master Mariner Emerald Patawaran (Career). At the end of the training, participants were given a “Satisfaction Survey Form” to evaluate and give their insights and comments with regards to the course.

The result of the survey accomplished by the participants is very positive. A ratings of 98% satisfaction rate was given to COMPASS with regards to the first hand facilities used by the trainees and the presentation method and effective teaching techniques demonstrated by the instructor, in particular, the realistic scenarios given gained a comprehensive understanding and improved ability in ship handling and maneuverings.
