Another First – COMPASS is now the First Training Center to Offer FURUNO Type Specific ECDIS Trainin

On modern ships the ECDIS systems have become undoubtedly an essential part of Maritime Industry in terms of Safety and Security on board, and it is therefore necessary to have a Marine Deck Officer who is totally proficient. This fact has also been acknowledged by the IMO in the amended STCW Code, which now requires the deck officers to have profound working knowledge of the ECDIS system. ECDIS is also part of the relevant safety equipment for which, according to the ISM Code, a specific training for the crew is required. This will be checked not only through Vetting, but also by Port State Control.

COMPASS Training Center, Inc. has been very clear about their responsibility as a maritime training provider to provide first-class training to the seafarers in order to ensure safety of life, protection of property and that of the environment. With this objective, COMPASS takes one step further for the type specific ECDIS training through its partnership with FURUNO Navskills. Hence, making it convenient to our Filipino deck officer, and other neighbouring countries within the Asian region to receive the 2-day type specific ECDIS training course.
Starting May 2012, COMPASS Training Center, Inc. will open its doors for marine deck officers in need of the FURUNO’s type specific ECDIS training.
Moreover, COMPASS Training Center, Inc. will operate and deliver identical training in terms of quality and contents as to that FURUNO training center in Denmark and Singapore.
